Legislative Honor Roll

These members of the 110th Congress are receiving this award in acknowledgment of their diligence and consistent efforts to support legislation that will enhance the economic vitality and growth within the American South.

Initial Recipients-House of Representatives
Initial Recipients- Senate

These individuals have been selected based on an average score from three leading business organizations who annually rate members of Congress based on their support of legislation deemed important to business.  The organizations tracked are the National Manufacturers Association, The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Federation of Independent Business.  In the initial report shown online you will see the votes from these three organizations listed above and the average of their scores which becomes SEDC’s score.  Any legislator receiving an average score of at least 70% makes our Legislative Honor Roll.

We realize there are actions that could make a member of Congress worthy of this honor other than how he/she votes on certain legislation.  That is why we offer the opportunity for you, as an SEDC member, to nominate a legislator from your area that fell below the 70% mark to receive the award.  In order for your nominee to be considered we will need a detailed description of your reasons why you feel he/she should be considered for this honor.  Specific examples of their support of economic development efforts in your region will be needed.  Please respond to SEDC President, Gene Stinson (gene@sedc.org) with any nominee by Wednesday, October 21, 2009.

The final list of recipients will be announced by October 30, 2009 and press releases sent.
