Maria Satira is a seasoned multi-media professional and author with more than a decade of experience in journalism, public relations, communication, and marketing. She is currently the director of marketing and communications for an economic development organization in Greenville, North Carolina.
Equipped with a background in journalism, Maria is passionate about storytelling. She spent seven years as a news anchor at WNCT-TV in Greenville. She also spent time in newsrooms in Winchester, VA; Wilmington, NC; and Pittsburgh, PA.
As the author of An Introduction to Media Relations for Nonprofit Organizations, community involvement is of the utmost importance to Maria. She volunteers with various committees and boards to support local nonprofit organizations. She has served on boards and committees for the Humane Society of Eastern Carolina, Better Business Bureau Serving Eastern North Carolina, American Cancer Society, Riley’s Army, and Pitt County Arts Council at EMERGE.
