We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Military service members and veterans with ranks from E5-E9, W1-CW5, or O3-O6, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity.

Job Summary

Dominion Energy South Carolina’s Department of Economic Development and Local Government supports our internal business units and the communities we serve in support of our core mission to create growth opportunities and influencing solutions to local government issues that promote the growth and well-being of the community and the company.


This position, located in the Charleston Metro Region, is responsible for economic development and local government activities for Dominion Energy territory throughout a multi-county region.

Reporting to Manager, Economic Development and Local Government, this position is primarily responsible for the following:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key local government, economic development, business, education, development and civic contacts to achieve positive results on issues affecting Dominion Energy companies
  • Facilitate activities with external partners and serve as liaison for internal business units to build opportunities for Dominion Energy
  • Communicate effectively Dominion Energy’s position on issues affecting our company, our employees, and our customers
  • Develop and coordinate local governmental and community leadership support to safeguard and promote Dominion Energy’s interests
  • Support operations before, during and after major storms, outages and other disruptive events to include coordinating with local elected and appointed officials and emergency operations
  • Positively represent Dominion Energy as a leader in community and economic development through membership and active involvement in community and civic organizations

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

8+ years related experience (A Master's degree will count as one year of experience. A partial year of six months or more experience will be rounded up to one year; A partial year of six months or more experience will be rounded up to one full year of experience).

Specific knowledge, skills, abilities and experience include:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience with public policy, local governmental affairs, economic development, and strategic problem solving;
  • Manage internal/external relationships, consensus building and collaboration, managing multiple deadlines;
  • Work both autonomously and in a team environment;
  • Strategic analysis and problem-solving;
  • Personal Attributes: Flexibility, Initiative, Confidentiality, Integrity;
  • Strong interpersonal skills as well as effective oral and written communication are critical;
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office products Word, Excel, and Power Point and general use of various tools for research;
  • Experience with GIS/Arc mapping systems is beneficial.

This position requires extended work (2-3 evenings a week) and some weekend work and occasional overnight travel both in-state and out-of-state. 

Occasionally, this position will require overnights at the office or a remote location in support of severe weather, natural disasters and other events that significantly affect our system and customers (storm duty).  Travel is generally domestic though a passport for other travel may be required.
