The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is seeking an experienced economic development or industry professional to support the Vice President, Manufacturing, in executing strategic initiatives, managing daily operations, and driving internal collaboration. This role includes leading a team, overseeing lead generation efforts, developing ecosystem initiatives, and enhancing Virginia’s competitiveness in the Manufacturing Sector.

 

Responsibilities:

  

  • Manage key projects and initiatives, tracking progress, and ensuring timely completion
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements & company policies
  • Assist in developing and implementing strategic plans
  • Conduct research and provide insights to support strategic decision-making
  • Cultivate relationships with Virginia’s top manufacturing employers to identify expansion opportunities and strengthen sector insights
  • Assist in the development of Manufacturing lead generation strategies and campaigns for business attraction
  • Collaborate with Vice President, Manufacturing, to represent integrated priorities and maintain a unified leadership voice
  • Serve as a key liaison between the Vice President, Manufacturing, and other departments, facilitating effective communication and collaboration
  • Prepare and deliver reports, presentations, and briefings for stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key partners, stakeholders, and clients
  • Analyze data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, providing actionable insights to the Vice President
  • Identify opportunities for additional lead generation & ecosystem development activities

 

Experience required:

  • At least eight years’ experience in marketing, business administration, economic development, or relevant field (manufacturing sector experience is a plus)
  • At least five years’ experience in a leadership or management role
  • Proven track record of strategic planning and lead generation
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience with CRM systems, preferably Salesforce
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to telecommute and the discipline to work independently from a home office 
  • Frequent in-state and out-of-state travel required
