Minimum Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s degree with significant coursework in economic development, marketing and public relations, or business administration.  Excellent communication, public relations, research, organizational and computer skills.  Previous experience with development authority, chamber of commerce, sales, marketing, research, or public relations preferred.

Essential Function

 

Responsible for providing support to the Vice President in performing the IDA’s comprehensive existing industry and workforce development activities, collecting, managing and preparing relevant data, assisting with requests for information, and other duties as assigned.

 

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

Conduct an ongoing outreach and visitation program of all industries to include face to face annual industry survey, and a minimum of 2 industry appreciation events per year.

 

Maintain accurate database of industry contacts, including newly hired, promoted, or relocated industry executives.

 

Develop and maintain professional working relationships with existing industry, community, and service provider contacts (ex:  Savannah Technical College, ECCA, Georgia DOL, WorkSource Coastal).

 

Utilize professional contacts to leverage the resources and services of the workforce development system, and provide referrals to partners and other community agencies when appropriate.

 

Responsible for data collection, research, development and production of presentations and publications that promote existing industry and workforce development, as well as business recruitment efforts.

 

Assist Vice President with the timely and accurate completion of requests for information.

 

Regularly explore and evaluate data sources to help streamline IDA responsiveness to requests and general knowledge of the current business environment.

 

Assist Vice President with IDA marketing efforts to include social media posts, drafting press releases for review, tracking IDA press mentions and articles, and coordinating IDA website updates with Vice President and regularly monitoring/updating statewide property databases to ensure accuracy.

 

Attend board meetings and other IDA functions as requested by Vice President.  Work with IDA staff to ensure all reports/attachments are prepared for board meetings and functions as necessary.

 

Maintain self-motivation and ambitious work schedule; position will be expected to produce work drafts under tight deadlines with little to no direction.  Vice President will review and modify work as necessary.

 

Inform Vice President of work progress, scheduled activities, and upcoming projects.

Punctuality and attendance are essential.

 

Professional behavior is expected in the workplace and at all work related functions.

 

Position may occasionally require overnight travel, as well as after-hours participation in meetings and events (outside of Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM).

 

Perform other duties as instructed by the Vice President.  These duties will be within reason and within appropriate boundaries.
