Kentucky Capital Development Corporation (KCDC) seeks an experienced leader to serve as its Executive Director. This position plays a vital role in driving economic growth and development within the City of Frankfort and Franklin County, Kentucky by implementing strategies and initiatives to attract new businesses and support the growth and retention of existing businesses. The Executive Director will work collaboratively with local community organizations, educational institutions, and workforce development agencies to address workforce needs, enhance job training programs, and assist in creating a pipeline of skilled workers to support economic growth.

 

Priority will be given to candidates with demonstrated strategic planning experience and those that have administered federal or state grants. Leaders with capacity to bring together diverse interests and groups of people especially encouraged to apply.

 

Priority will also be given to candidates living in or willing to relocate to Franklin County. Regardless of home location, it is expected that 80% of work days will be spent in Franklin County.

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of business recruitment, industry location practices, and economic development practices and principles at the local and regional levels.
  • Ability to communicate with high-level executives and elected officials for the purpose of sharing and collecting information related to client solutions.
  • Ability to work with the general public as well as local, regional and state stakeholders.
  • Ability to respond to Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
  • Ability to research and pursue grant opportunities, incentives, and funding sources to support economic development projects and initiatives.
  • Ability to administer federal and state grants.
  • Ability to prepare reports and formulate recommendations concerning economic development projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, urban planning, public administration, or related field. Masters degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Experience in economic development, business development, or a related field considered a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical and computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally, in writing and through social media platforms.
  • Candidate must maintain a valid driver’s license.

 

The candidate will be required to pass a background check and must be able to maintain the confidentiality of any information s/he encounters.
