Director of Economic Development
Pointe Coupee Parish Government
Pointe Coupee Parish Government is seeking to hire an Economic Development
Director to support the growth of the economy in Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana. This
position will target candidates that have expertise in economic development strategies
and collaboration across local, regional, state, federal and international landscapes with
the goal to attract investment to the Parish.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Strategic Planning: Leverage expertise to develop and implement comprehensive
economic development strategies that reflect the objectives of Pointe Coupee Parish
and a path to growth and development of the Parish economy.
• Business Attraction, Retention and Diversification: Engage with site selectors,
developers, businesses, and investors to promote new business location as well as
expansion and retention of existing businesses.
• Maximize Incentive Programs: Identify, develop and manage incentive programs to
attract and encourage new business investment and job creation.
• Infrastructure Projects and Funding Alignment: Engage with local and state agencies
to align infrastructure needs and funding with economic development strategies.
• Data Analysis and Production: Leverage expertise to identify, track, analyze and
produce key data points such as economic data, demographics, market trends, and
regulatory impacts that may impact existing businesses or attracting new
businesses.
• Marketing: Develop sophisticated and detailed marketing material that aligns with
the comprehensive economic development strategies utilizing multiple marketing
platforms such as digital marketing, events and direct outreach.
• Regulatory Knowledge and Resource: Maintain a current understanding of relevant
regulations such as zoning, permitting and environmental rules that may impact
siting of new businesses, or impact the operations or expansion of existing
businesses, and to be an advocate/advisor to facilitate business development and
retention.
• Outreach: Develop and maintain strong relationships with a broad range of
organizations, entities, and persons to create a supportive ecosystem for economic
growth including but not limited to industry associations, site selectors, land owners,
elected officials, and local organizations with a significant focus on developing new
relationships to attract new businesses that bring job growth and tax base growth.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Urban Planning,
Public Administration, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in economic development, business attraction, or a
related field.
• Comprehensive understanding of sales tax revenue dynamics and their impact
on municipal financial planning.
• Strong knowledge of economic development principles, software and programs,
incentive structures, and industry best practices.
• Advanced analytical capabilities to evaluate and interpret economic data, trends,
and forecasts effectively.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to foster
partnerships and deliver presentations to diverse audiences.
• Collaborative approach with the ability to engage and work effectively with local
officials, business leaders, community groups, and regulatory bodies.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools, presentation software, and other relevant
technology.
• Results-driven attitude, with the capability to manage projects efficiently from
initiation through completion.
• Familiarity with local zoning ordinances, land use planning processes, and
regulatory frameworks.
Compensation and Benefits
Pointe Coupee Parish Government offers a competitive benefits package including:

Position compensation is dependent upon qualifications and experience level.
